Thank you both for this! I’m looking forward to exploring these questions further.

Definitely something I need to dig further into, but it sounds very aligned. More TK!

Thanks, @dancohen! All credit to the team, however, and to the growing community. https://twitter.com/dancohen/status/804690080958967808

This is pretty horrifying.

Frankly, I am relieved to know that there is *something* you cannot do.

Hey — did this get sorted out? Let me know if not & we’ll dig into it!

Not true! You can register a local account if desired. And soon we’ll provide InCommon/eduGAIN auth.

So it’s the network that’s the legacy bit, not the local registration. We’ll ponder how to clarify!

On my way to Liège, honored to keynote Planned Obsolescence: Text, Theory, Technology. https://plannedobsolescenceweb.wordpress.com

Very excited about what promises to be two days of fascinating presentations!

Hey, I’ve been in Belgium the last couple of days. Anything interesting happening back home?

Here’s the deal: everything is a distraction from something else equally if not more appalling. We have to find a way to see it all at once.

Yes, definitely. Arguments about what the “real” problem is keep us from moving on any of it.

*shudder*

Indeed.

Hi! Just FYI, we're not claiming any more rights than what we need in order to serve and display the content...

Oh, I’m sorry to hear this, Jade, but I’m glad you got that extra year.

Thrilled to have had a chance to talk about Humanities Commons with @alison_mudditt. https://scholarlykitchen.sspnet.org/2016/12/21/humanities-commons-networking-the-humanities-through-open-access-open-source-and-not-for-profit/ @humcommons

True, of course. But the # of mtgs abt OA that I’ve been in that have ignored the specificity of the humanities is notable.

Often we weren’t invited! It took longer than it should for these conversations to look beyond science for participants.

Definitely.

It was a great convention — but things took a turn pretty much immediately thereafter. #sigh

NO NO NO NO

RIght?!?

A million years ago, I spent a year & a half working for Universal Television. On my first day, my boss took me to the commissary for lunch.

We got in the elevator & headed down to the lobby, and after we got clear she elbowed me and whispered “DID YOU SEE????”

We had been in the elevator with Meryl Streep and Carrie Fisher. And I totally, totally, totally failed to notice.

This was very shortly after Postcards from the Edge. I had been in an elevator with two of the biggest stars of my life, and hadn’t seen.

This story is emblematic of two things for me: my obliviousness, of course, but also Streep and Fisher’s unassumingness.

They were just a couple of women — stunningly brilliant, beautiful women, of course — but just a couple of women coming from a meeting.

I have carried that moment with me for years as an aspirational emblem, a kind of grace and centeredness I would like someday to possess.

Phew.

Oh, sorry! I send you wishes for the longest Thursday ever.

Argh now you made me look, and I just spotted one that’s also a rice cooker.

Oh my.

Good grief there’s one that’s bluetooth enabled.

Not that I’ve been obsessively studying these all afternoon or anything…

but I am assuming that the Breville lid is hinged $$& so needs more overhead clearance$$?
