I love the “✅ Finished.” That’s totally what you were after, yeah?

I hope the book lives up to our conversation! :)

I hope we get a real-world chance to talk about it! https://twitter.com/arbuckle_alyssa/status/1070078011620319232

I am fascinated by this. I’ve been studying German, French, and Spanish with Duolingo and the world views of each is SO distinct. German includes a lot of sentences about non-Christian religions that are in neither of the others +

French is periodically catty in the ways it describes people. And Spanish not only has sentences about needing a revolution but today gave me one on being in the witness protection program.

Wow, that’s great. I haven’t seen that kind of gender politics in any of my three!

Ooh, so would I! I’m fascinated by this.

Plus macaroni and cheese!

It’s a perfectly cromulent word.

We spent a couple of weeks in May in the town in which it’s set, and visited the bars in which $$a$$ the movie was filmed, and $$b$$ the actual murder took place. Come see me and I will take you!

Good morning, friends! I have a favor to ask. Generous Thinking has a couple of reviews on Amazon, which is great. But if you received an ARC, it would be even better to have your thoughts, too. Reviews there make an enormous difference. https://www.amazon.com/dp/1421429462/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_E4MdCbJ41FT1H

$$Especially when they’re reviews that understand what the book is up to, just saying\.$$

Yay, looking forward to seeing you!

I’m on my way to #cni18f this morning, by the by, with 20% off cards to share! #generousthinking

This is one danger in transforming public services into private non-profits: a precarity imposed by the substitution of sustainability for mission. #HigherEd #generousthinking https://twitter.com/biblioracle/status/1072128438243340288

Yay, thanks!!!

I’m not sure, but I’ll look into it — thanks!

I’m working on a big piece of writing that’s had me a bit paralyzed, both because there seem to be too many unknowns as yet and because the stakes of this particular piece of writing — a report! — are enormously high. Over the last couple of days, ... https://kfitz.info/10-december-2018-1722/

I’m honored to be invited to give the Munro Lecture at Simon Fraser University this February. So looking forward to it! #generousthinking https://twitter.com/SFUPublicSquare/status/1072568023125495808

Is it macesplaining? Tell me it’s macesplaining.

Completely, completely understood. I pretty much stopped after this explainer, which totally covered it for me: https://twitter.com/ashleyfeinberg/status/1072246815037276160

This is a great stack of books! Looking forward to joining them in 2019. https://twitter.com/gmbritton/status/1072624723236937730

Ooooooh.

I grew up in a conservative southern town that, led by the Church, welcomed Vietnamese migrants in the mid-to-late 1970s. I am horrified, infuriated, and ashamed that someone could suggest they weren’t really part of our community. https://twitter.com/TheAtlantic/status/1072940912131665920

Coolest part of writing a book is having an amazing editor. https://twitter.com/gmbritton/status/1073709237543583744

Thanks! I’ll look forward to hearing how these ideas develop.

Thanks, Kamran! I hope it does some good out there.

Yay! I hope you enjoy it!

Thank you! It’s amazing to see it — even if only in a picture so far.

The place is not going to be the same without you! ☹️ But all my best wishes for the move and for new adventures in Seattle!

That report? That had me terrified? I’ve been working steadily on it, and while I have a lot to go, I’ve turned the corner into being SUPER EXCITED about where it seems to be leading.

Thanks so much! I hope the book can do some good for us all.

It’s worth reading the story. The chart looks like it’s meant to be some kind of average 25yo, but it’s actually just one actual dude.

Absolutely. This is why the process of getting a mortgage now requires you to account for the origins of every single deposit you’ve made in the period for which you turn over records.

Indeed.

Sending all best wishes for a speedy restoration, and enormous gratitude for everything you and your colleagues do.

I’ve kept text files listing the books I’ve read each year since 1990. Last year I switched from alpha order to completion order, with dates. This year I added DNFs!

Oh, no. I’m so sorry.

And undeservedly. They all deserve better.

I flew through Montréal in the spring and was shocked by how much of a ghost town the airport was, both inbound and outbound. Creepy.
