From the Library of Congress: “(i) Educational uses by college and university professors and by college and university film and media studies students;”

You say: “The exemption on the cracking of CSS now extends to all instructors and students”

It seems to be that the LOC has expanded use to all professors but not to all students, only “college and university film and media studies students.” As I read it, this is at odds with your gloss.

While I agree this is a step in the right direction, I wonder what this means for my students in a philosophy department. Would the students in a Philosophy of Film course in a philosophy department be captured by the exemption or not? What of those in a Shakespeare course in an English department (that doesn’t teach film) who want to use a clip from a Shakespeare adaptation?
