@kfitz, @Timothy Yenter: I saw this too, and hastily wrote a very angry blog post about how other disciplines care about the cultural content of DVDs. But then I realized that the other two exemptions (noncommercial videos and documentary filmmaking) just about cover everything that would be done for educational purposes. The only things film and media students can do that the rest of us can’t involve remixing decrypted DVD clips into for-profit fiction films.
